“J’ai voulu me perdre dans la nuit
et je m’y suis trouvé.
J’ai cru m’enfoncer dans l’eau noire
et j’ai plané plus libre que dans l’air.
Je n’avais jamais imaginé que les monstres féroces,
noirs comme les ténèbres,
et j’ai vu des bijoux étincelants, fragiles, lumineux.”
François De Roubaix (1939-1975)
MORCEAUX CHOISIS is compiling unreleased, lost and previous tracks produced by french dj, sound artist and producer Switch Groove. This compilation is not the jubilee or the inappropriate egotrip of an eternal newcomer. It’s just the need to turn a page and deliver me of this tracks which each represents a time, an era, friends, joy or sadness.
It’s just a sharing affair with you, listeners, friends, followers.
What is the kind of music you could listen? Jazz infused sounds for sure. This period, between 2007 and 2012, was my jazz teaching days. Hours and hours of listening Art Blackey, John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Marcus Belgrave, Doug Carn, Azymuth and a lot and a lot of hard bop, modal & spiritual jazz, jazz fusion or latin jazz. I learned music with deep listening sessions in order to understand and learn how rhythms, harmonies and melodies work.
I also produced music with sampling techniques and the ten tracks compiled are results of its learning.
I hope you enjoy it and it’s a big pleasure for me to share it with you.
